Here we sit with a list of 40, and we know some of the details are outdated, and we don’t want to miss anyone. Can you help? If you are part of group (and have permission to share group contact details) could you complete the form below?
Once collated we will make a new list and share with everyone, pop in community noticeboards, do the social thing.
Thank you,
Dawn

About the walks
The book describes 10 walks, all starting at Gorebridge Rail Station. Nine of the walks are circular in nature, finishing at the station so no transport other than feet is required. Newbattle Abbey (walk 5) finishes at Eskbank Rail Station where you can catch a train back or walk a little further to the Tesco Supermarket and catch a bus. The walks are of varying length and all have a description which includes the distance and will prepare you for the terrain en route. The time each walk takes has been calculated on approximately 2.5 miles/4km per hour with “picnic time” added where the distance is over 5miles/8km. Some of the walks have gates, stiles and steps and need a certain amount of agility to get round. Many have tracks through fields and along paths that can become very muddy in wet weather, so stout walking shoes/boots are essential.
Although the little booklets are like gold dust at the present, now is a great time to make sure they are available to as many people as possible. So we have saved them as individual walks, click here to go to the download page.
Before You Go:
Double check the bus numbers (i.e. the 33 no longer serves Gorebridge although mentioned in the booklet), let us know if a walk is impassable (fencing in place), follow the code (where there are no cows in a field one day, they may be there the next), let someone know you are heading out if walking alone, join the Gorebridge Walkers group and post if you want others to join you.
]]>However we return this month with some extra activities to make up for the rest time.
On Sunday 16th February we will meet in the community garden for a garden birds session which will include activities from RSPB, Scottish Wildlife Trust and Nature Detectives.
On Sunday 1st March we will have a Treasure Tracking session for wildling wannabe Pirates! This will not be at the community garden but rather a guided walk and activities.
More information will be posted on our Facebook pages nearer the time but please do email me if you’d like more information before then.

I take a keen interest in the Trust group, ‘Crafternoon‘, where we have a group of ladies interested in knitting, sewing, quilting and tatting or indeed any craft. We meet on a Wednesday afternoon from 1.30pm to 3.30pm, chat, craft, drink tea and coffee and eat biscuits! We warmly welcome new members.
I have been working with the primary schools together with Susan Muir and engaging with children primarily in P7. The children are drawing round the shape of their hand on a square piece of fabric, then cutting the shape which is then glued to another piece of material and finally sewing round the shape. Ultimately each hand will be sewn to a very big tree sewn by Susan.
The children have loved being involved and are quite excited that their work will be exhibited as a hanging in the Gorebridge Beacon. They are really excited about making a piece of history and particularly looking forward to identifying their own “hand” which has their name written on it.
