We will also lay out for you the Gorebridge Archives. \nAs part of the Scottish International Storytelling Festival* we will be joined by a Storyteller who will be telling the tales of Camp Meg\, Annie Swan\, the riot at Gorebridge Police Station\, the fatal explosion at Gorebridge Gunpowder Works and the life of the Pit Pony. \nYou can take part in the Daunder Walk where you will learn about Nancy Teuch (yes\, that path)\, the Emily Pit and Baths\, the North and South Bings and Laundry Cottages – where you will learn about the most recent find in Gorebridge. \nAt the heart of the day is the sharing of stories\, welcoming people\, and kindness. You will have lots of time to talk together at our Fable Table where you can reminisce with others throughout the afternoon. \nSo\, what’s your story? What do you want to share? SUMMARY:Gorebridge Stories – Celebrating Our Heritage
DESCRIPTION:For many the word ‘heritage’ suggests castles\, museums\, and historic buildings – and Gorebridge has a few – but it’s more than that\, heritage offers a place of belonging.  \nIt doesn’t matter if you have lived in Gorebridge all your life\, or just a few months all around you is heritage: from the Nancy Teach Path down to Gore Glen\, from the walks past Gunpowder Mills\, the names of streets\, the annual Gala day\, it all tells a story of a Gorebridge past that means something today. \nAnd then there are the memories\, as together people try and work out the story. Heritage – what has gone before us – has helped shaped the community in where we live now\, and it’s something we should all have access to\, to be part of the story that will be told. We all should be included in the history in order to appreciate the current place where we belong. Gorebridge Stories – Celebrating Our Heritage is about bringing people together\, saving stories and traditions\, and building up pride in where we live\, work and play.  \nCome along – to your own house – and share your stories and listen to others. We will display some heritage pictures to get the conversation going. It should be fun and lively. Come one week or come all four. DESCRIPTION:Doors open 11am – 4pm for this event\,\nEntry is £1 adults\, Under 16’s FREE – Pay on the door.  \nJoin us at the Beacon on Sunday\, 8th December 11am – 4pm for our Winter Craft Fair. \nStart (or if you are super organised\, end) your Christmas shopping with 25 local stalls attending including clothing\, food\, toys\, homewares\, gifts\, cosmetics\, jewellery\, homemade crafts plus much more. Plus live festive entertainment throughout the whole day\, including Carol Singing from Gorebridge Community Choir and more. \nCharity: \nWe also have Charity stalls at the event to give a little back this Christmas. \nOur cafe will be open serving up festive cheer and food. \nFor stall enquiries please contact dawn@gorebridge.org.uk (there is currently a waiting list\, however you may be in luck). \n \n

DESCRIPTION:The Gorebridge Photography Group is a fun get together that gives anyone\, with any level of experience the opportunity to meet others\, socialise\, take shoots and have photography outings. \nIt is a self led group which is fully supported by GCDT and meets at the Gorebridge Beacon on a Wednesday night 7 – 8PM and has a Facebook private group for you to join. \nThe aims of the group are really simple: \n\nOpen\, welcoming and inclusive: it doesn’t matter if you are complete novice or seasoned pro\, whether you shoot with your smartphone or camera. All are welcome and all can learn from each other.\nAffordable: the cost of the group at present is £1 – to cover the use of the Beacon. If money is tight and you would still like to come please contact us.\nFriendly and self led: the group is supported by GCDT and the group lead themselves in what to do each week\, where to meet to shot at weekends\, and you do not have to attend every single Wednesday evening to be part of it.\n\nJoin the group on Facebook. Get in touch if you want to know more.
