DESCRIPTION:Come along to the Beacon on Saturday 12th or Sunday 13th June 10 – 2PM for the Gorebridge Uniform Exchange/Swappies. \nWhat’s a uniform exchange?  \nIt’s about re-using and sharing school clothing items that are no longer needed\, can still be used and can be passed along too others for others to use. The exchange/swappies is free. It’s all about saving good quality items going to waste. \nHave uniform to donate?  \nExcellent! All we ask is it’s donated to us washed\, and that the items can be used/shared. They don’t have to be new\, but they do have to be useable. From May 31st until 11th June please drop off any items you have at the Beacon.

DESCRIPTION:Can’t dance? That’s okay. \nTwo left feet? Perfect. \nIt really doesn’t matter if you can dance or not. This is an afternoon social dance for people who just like to get together and learn a few moves. Sequence\, two-steps\, three-steps\, a few waltzes … just whatever takes our fancy each week. All welcome. We are friendly bunch\, come along and join us. We aren’t perfect ballroom dancers\, just people who like to laugh our way through. \nSuggested donation: £3

SUMMARY:Woodland Wildlings
DESCRIPTION:The Woodland Wildlings is a project for children aged up to 5 years. SUMMARY:Kids Upcycle Club- Friday Afternoons
DESCRIPTION:Email jaimie.macdonald@gorebridge.org.uk to BOOK your place \nParents and Children can join us for an after school session of making upcycled projects from textiles\, revamping old clothes\, making new things from fabric and experimenting with decoration and repair techniques. \nSessions will mostly be suitable for children aged 7 upwards. Sessions must be booked in advance as space is limited. \nAn adult is expected to stay in the session to create alongside the child\, offering assistance\, support and encouragement where needed. \nSome of the activities we could explore during our sessions (specific activities will be announced the beginning of that week) : \n\nT-shirt refashion\nHow to make T-shirt yarn\nWeave/braid a table mat or rug\nMake a dog toy\nBike streamers\nT-shirt shopping bags\nUpcycled junk jewellery\nSimple fabric printing/painting\nMake your own headband or hair clip\nPillow case dresses\nMake a simple cushion/ cushion cover\nSimple hand embroidery\nSimple hand applique/patching\n\nIf you have any ideas on what you’d like to re-make or upcycle with your child\, please let us know. \nThis workshop is funded by Scottish Government Climate Challenge Fund.

DESCRIPTION:Join our expert mender Kiki so she can show you how to make simple and effective repairs to your favourite clothing and textiles. \nRepairing our clothes means keeping them being worn and loved for longer and keeping them out of landfill by reusing instead of recycling or binning. \n“Extending the average life of clothes by just three months of active use per item would\nlead to a 5-10% reduction in each of the carbon\, water and waste footprints” \nSuitable for beginners. \nPlease just drop-in during the morning. DESCRIPTION:Working in partnership with The Orchard Centre (part of Health in Mind) in Bonnyrigg\, Creative Wellbeing is taking place in Gorebridge on a Thursday morning (10am – 12pm) at the Pop-UpBeacon\, 55 Main Street\, Gorebridge. \nYou can join any week\, each week has a ‘theme’\, every session offers a craft activity followed by led Wellbeing session (optional).
