An unpaid carer is someone who supports a family member, partner, relative or friend, of any age who needs help to manage a long-term condition, disability, physical or mental health condition, ‘if you spend time caring for someone who relies on your help, you’re an unpaid carer.’

The Breather Cafe is not a service, we wanted to create a space where you can come along, out from your caring role, chat and once a month (to be arranged/decided) maybe take part in an activity. You don’t need to attend every week, it’s there for you, should you want it.

Free.

Run by parents and care givers, for parents and care givers. Starting January 2026 at the Beacon.

This is an informal community session for adults and young children to come together to socialise, get and give support, reduce isolation and provide peer support for parent’s and care givers mental wellbeing.

Come along and share. Sessions are term time only.

The Pantry is open to EVERYONE who lives in EH23. Pop along to the Beacon 3 until 5 on a Tuesday and we will sign you up and you can do your shop.

The café will be open and there is a dedicated space for pre-schoolers to play, we have plenty buggy space and staff will be on hand for a blether. 

The café is a great place to meet with other parents/carers, and make new friends. We have highchairs available and plenty changing facilities. Siblings are more than welcome to come along, however the play area is really suitable for under 5’s.

Cost: £3 per child. Pay at cafe.
