Spoken Word Poetry Workshop https://gorebridge.org.uk/upcomingevents/spoken-word-poetry-workshop/2026-05-19/ Tue, 19 May 2026 17:30:00 +0000 https://gorebridge.org.uk/?post_type=tribe_events&eventDate=2026-05-19#038;p=15030

When: Spoken Word Poetry Workshop, starts 28th April (8 weeks) 6:30 – 8:30PM

Where: Gorebridge Beacon, Hunterfield Road, Gorebridge, EH23 4TT

What: Interested in trying spoken word poetry? Join us for this eight-week workshop series with Scotland’s premiere spoken word group the Loud Poets!

Over the workshop series facilitator Katie Ailes will introduce you to the basics of writing and performing your own spoken word poetry, guiding you from initial idea through taking the stage. Through different prompts, exercises, and games, we’ll write poems on a range of subjects and explore different styles. Sharing work aloud can be scary, so we’ll equip you with plenty of performance tips to develop the core skills you need to perform with clarity and confidence. By the final session, an opportunity to perform your work for friends and family, you’ll have all the tools you need to articulate your unique perspective live onstage.

This workshop series is designed for new and developing writers; no experience required! Space is limited to 15 participants, so book quickly. While attendance at all of the sessions is preferred, it’s OK if you need to miss one or two; get in touch with us if you have any questions.
