DESCRIPTION:Our Baby Bees classes give your little one a full sensory experience. All our classes focus around the singing voice\, a lot of which is unaccompanied. Unaccompanied singing gives the child a focus with little other distraction\, starting their journey listening to pitch. \nWe also play a range of percussion instruments to our babies in these classes – some are played by the teachers\, giving them a sensory experience through sound and sight. DESCRIPTION:For many the word ‘heritage’ suggests castles\, museums\, and historic buildings – and Gorebridge has a few – but it’s more than that\, heritage offers a place of belonging.  \nIt doesn’t matter if you have lived in Gorebridge all your life\, or just a few months all around you is heritage: from the Nancy Teach Path down to Gore Glen\, from the walks past Gunpowder Mills\, the names of streets\, the annual Gala day\, it all tells a story of a Gorebridge past that means something today. \nAnd then there are the memories\, as together people try and work out the story. Heritage – what has gone before us – has helped shaped the community in where we live now\, and it’s something we should all have access to\, to be part of the story that will be told. We all should be included in the history in order to appreciate the current place where we belong. Gorebridge Stories – Celebrating Our Heritage is about bringing people together\, saving stories and traditions\, and building up pride in where we live\, work and play.  \nCome along – to your own house – and share your stories and listen to others. We are so grateful to the people who helped tend the Beacon garden last year during the first lockdown. And it was lovely watching many of you use the garden space at the Beacon in the last months of 2020. \nWhat we (think) we know? Safe\, secure\, outside\, accessible\, friendly\, community green space will be crucial to us all as we recover from Covid-19: on our physical and mental well-being\, and a safe space to meet with others. \nWe would love to get together with you and plan what you would like to get up to at the Gorebridge Beacon garden in 2021. DESCRIPTION:Taking in Vogrie House then Borthwick and Crighton Castles\, this 10-mile walk will take in breath-taking scenery of our countryside. Bring a camera as it’s beautiful this time of year. Meet 10: 00 AM at the Beacon. \nTo Book: http://gorebridge.org.uk/walking19/ \nThings you need to know about this walk: \nWalkers will start and finish at The Beacon. Please try and be there 15 minutes before your start time. Both walks will have walk leaders who will show you the way. Walkers are responsible for their own safety and should take care accordingly. We will be crossing roads and walkers should obey the Highway Code and only cross when it is safe to do so. All under 16 year olds must be under the close supervision and control of a parent/guardian as leaders are not responsible for the safety of children. \nThese wonderful countryside walks are approximately 10 miles long and include open meadows\, woods\, quiet lanes and riverside. You will be walking in grass\, on some steep muddy paths\, through undergrowth and overhanging branches and there are some steep steps\, stiles and fences to negotiate. At times the path is very close to open water and great care is needed. These walks are only suitable for walkers with stout walking boots and appropriate clothing for the weather. They will take between 5 – 6 hours and you will need to bring plenty of refreshments for the day. There are places along the route where you can leave if you find the walk more challenging than expected – please tell the walk leader if you leave. \n

DESCRIPTION:Via Gorebridge Community Council \nFirstly the Community Council would like to say thank you to everyone for helping make the memorial to all the local miners who lost their lives in the industry possible. Because of everyone who contributed to all the fundraising efforts and advertising space in the 2018 calendar we were able to raise enough funds to order the memorial and we are pleased to say it is now complete and in place outside the Beacon\, beside the 1st World War Memorial and soon the 2nd World War Memorial will also be reinstated. \n\nWe would now like to invite you to an official unveiling of the memorial on 28th Sept 2019 at 3pm together with a small display of some memories of our mining heritage which have been pulled together into a presentation. We hope this will spark more memories and encourage you to write down some stories about our recent history. We will also have some details of the names that we are aware of so far although there were too many to have them noted on the memorial but there is a second project in the pipeline to display these in the beacon once we have been able to check and verify all the details. \nA finger buffet and tea and coffee will be provided from 3.30 until 4.30. \nI’ve attached a photo of the memorial and look forward to seeing you on the 28th. \nKind regards\nGorebridge Community Council Members
