SUMMARY:Miners Memorial Unveiling
DESCRIPTION:Via Gorebridge Community Council \nFirstly the Community Council would like to say thank you to everyone for helping make the memorial to all the local miners who lost their lives in the industry possible. Because of everyone who contributed to all the fundraising efforts and advertising space in the 2018 calendar we were able to raise enough funds to order the memorial and we are pleased to say it is now complete and in place outside the Beacon\, beside the 1st World War Memorial and soon the 2nd World War Memorial will also be reinstated. \n\nWe would now like to invite you to an official unveiling of the memorial on 28th Sept 2019 at 3pm together with a small display of some memories of our mining heritage which have been pulled together into a presentation. We hope this will spark more memories and encourage you to write down some stories about our recent history. We will also have some details of the names that we are aware of so far although there were too many to have them noted on the memorial but there is a second project in the pipeline to display these in the beacon once we have been able to check and verify all the details. \nA finger buffet and tea and coffee will be provided from 3.30 until 4.30. \nI’ve attached a photo of the memorial and look forward to seeing you on the 28th. \nKind regards\nGorebridge Community Council Members

Fabric cutting space is limited so small to medium sized projects preferred. \nWe have: \n\n4-5 sewing machines available to use or bring your own if you already have one.\nFree donated materials for your upcycling projects.\nThread\, needles\, pins and other basic equipment will be accessible during the session.\n\nBring a textile project you need some expert guidance with\, or get on with your own project. \n\nREPAIR – mend those pesky holes and rips to make them wearable again.\nALTER – take up hems\, take clothes in or out to fit better\nEMBELLISH and REFASHION – Decorate and change items to feel more fun\, more colourful and more like YOU.\nMAKE- work on your own sewing projects. SUMMARY:Kung Fu Ladies Class
DESCRIPTION:Ladies Class \nClasses run on a Monday evening\, 7-8.30pm at the Beacon\, Hunterfield Road\, Gorebridge. \nYou don’t need to be fit or have had any martial arts experience to come along. It is a beginners class and so\, everyone will be starting from scratch. In the class\, we will start off with some warming up exercises to loosen up and then\, some stamina and power building with a system called Splashing Hands. \nYou will then go on to traditional Kung Fu techniques but\, with a modern approach. To finish\, there will be “cool down” exercises using Chi Gong techniques. These exercises promote internal chi development and balance the body and mind before you leave. \nThe class fee is £7 per session\, payable on the night. You just need to wear something loose and trainers (as we are not in bare feet). Before the first session\, a short health screening form needs to be completed – if you could arrive 15 minutes before\, to allow time for this.
