DESCRIPTION:A Warm Space has been set up at the Gorebridge Beacon. \nWhat is a warm space?  \nThey are are all a little different. The Warm Space at the Beacon offers you somewhere to be comfortable and warm with no judgement\, free WI-FI\, and tea and coffee. \nWhy a warm space? \nBecause of the massive increase in costs and inflation or what we have come to know as the cost-of-living crisis. We know many of us are facing really hard choices and decisions at the moment. We have just came out of a global pandemic\, and are now faced with massive hikes in fuel\, food and energy. Some are facing horrific questions such as ‘heat or eat’? A warm space can help. \nWho is it for?  \nEveryone. Anyone. All of us. It’s for all the community. A place to meet. \nHow much will it cost me? \nNothing. It’s free to use. \nCan I donate? \nYes\, if you would like to support the warm space at the Beacon\, you can do so here (JustGiving)\, or\, if you can afford to\, bring in some vegetables so we can make soup or a packet of biscuits we can share. \nWarm Spaces at the Beacon are:  \n\nMonday 9AM – 2PM*\nTues and Wed 2:30PM – 4:30PM* \nThursday 2:30PM – 9PM (Families)\n\nCommunity Cafe \nIs also open 9AM-2PM Tuesday to Saturday. All welcome. If you would like a bowl of soup (free) please say ‘Robert Sent You’ when you order.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a fabulous\, festive afternoon tea. \nPrice includes afternoon tea as described in the menu for either adults £12 or Mini Adults £10. \nThe Mini Adult tea comes with a small gift from Santa who will visit you at your table whilst you eat. \nPlease note – The Beaconeers Team endeavour to be as inclusive as possible\, therefore we have not set age limits on who qualifies for the Mini Adult afternoon tea\, that is for you to decide alone. \nWe also recognise that not everyone is comfortable with a visit from Santa – if this is the case please contact us and we can ask Santa to leave the gift at the table \nWe can cater for vegetarians and vegans\, please note that items will differ from the published menu. \nSadly cannot cater for gluten-free alteratives as we will not be able to ensure seperate gluten-free prep spaces in the Kitchen during the event. \nWe reserve the right to substitute menu items on the day.

SUMMARY:Telling Tales - an afternoon of Gorebridge Stories\, Sharing and Soup
DESCRIPTION:We hope you can join us at the Gorebridge Beacon on Saturday the 5th of November (1.30 – 5PM) as we delve into the heritage of Gorebridge with an afternoon of soup\, stories and song. We will also lay out for you the Gorebridge Archives. \nAs part of the Scottish International Storytelling Festival* we will be joined by a Storyteller who will be telling the tales of Camp Meg\, Annie Swan\, the riot at Gorebridge Police Station\, the fatal explosion at Gorebridge Gunpowder Works and the life of the Pit Pony. \nYou can take part in the Daunder Walk where you will learn about Nancy Teuch (yes\, that path)\, the Emily Pit and Baths\, the North and South Bings and Laundry Cottages – where you will learn about the most recent find in Gorebridge. \nAt the heart of the day is the sharing of stories\, welcoming people\, and kindness. You will have lots of time to talk together at our Fable Table where you can reminisce with others throughout the afternoon. \nSo\, what’s your story? What do you want to share?
