DESCRIPTION:This baby first aid course is being organised and run by Precious People Training and is being held at the Gorebridge Beacon. \nThis course is suitable for anyone who would like to have a basic child and baby First Aid understanding. Whether you are a parent\, parent to be\, grand parent\, auntie\, uncle\, brother\, sister\, babysitter or carer. This training really is perfect for everyone. \nThe 2 hour session will teach you how to deal confidently with accidents\, emergencies and illnesses involving babies and children. \nDuring the 2 hours we will look at: \n\nTreatment of an unconscious child and the fast effective use of the Recovery Position\nChild and baby Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)\nBleeding and Shock\nChoking recognition and treatment\nHead injuries\nFever\nFebrile Seizures\nDrowning\nBurns\nAnaphylaxis\nMeningitis\n\nOur classes are small and friendly in a relaxed environment… no tests or embarrassing role play.

SUMMARY:Remake sewing sessions- Make/Repair/Alter/Refashion/Embellish
DESCRIPTION:This remake sewing session is funded through Greening Gorebridge\, a Climate Challenge Fund project from Keep Scotland Beautiful. \nTo Book: email jaimie.macdonald@gorebridge.org.uk to ensure there space for you on your chosen date and time. \nThis is not a taught sewing class. It is a chance to have free access our community Sewing studio to make\, upcycle\, embellish and repair with textiles. Fabric cutting space is limited so small to medium sized projects preferred. \nWe have: \n\n4-5 sewing machines available to use or bring your own if you already have one.\nFree donated materials for your upcycling projects.\nThread\, needles\, pins and other basic equipment will be accessible during the session.\n\nBring a textile project you need some expert guidance with\, or get on with your own project. \n\nREPAIR – mend those pesky holes and rips to make them wearable again.\nALTER – take up hems\, take clothes in or out to fit better\nEMBELLISH and REFASHION – Decorate and change items to feel more fun\, more colourful and more like YOU.\nMAKE- work on your own sewing projects. We encourage you to use donated fabric\, reuse and upcycle wherever possible.\n\nOpening times: \nCommunity Sewing Studio is open on Wednesdays but times alternate week to week 10-12 and 6-8 are our core hours where you will have the opportunity to ask questions of our sewing tutor. 12-1 and 5-6 are self guided times without staff support. \nMornings: \n\n10-12pm- Gain advice on your project from our experienced sewing tutor\n12-1pm- For confident sewers and self guided projects . DESCRIPTION:Email jaimie.macdonald@gorebridge.org.uk to BOOK your place \nParents and Children can join us for an after school session of making upcycled projects from textiles\, revamping old clothes\, making new things from fabric and experimenting with decoration and repair techniques. \nSessions will mostly be suitable for children aged 7 upwards. Sessions must be booked in advance as space is limited. \nAn adult is expected to stay in the session to create alongside the child\, offering assistance\, support and encouragement where needed. \nSome of the activities we could explore during our sessions (specific activities will be announced the beginning of that week) : \n\nT-shirt refashion\nHow to make T-shirt yarn\nWeave/braid a table mat or rug\nMake a dog toy\nBike streamers\nT-shirt shopping bags\nUpcycled junk jewellery\nSimple fabric printing/painting\nMake your own headband or hair clip\nPillow case dresses\nMake a simple cushion/ cushion cover\nSimple hand embroidery\nSimple hand applique/patching\n\nIf you have any ideas on what you’d like to re-make or upcycle with your child\, please let us know. \nThis workshop is funded by Scottish Government Climate Challenge Fund.
