You are invited to BioFest – a Biodiversity event scheduled to take place on Wednesday 14th March 9.30 – 1.30.
The event is supported by a Railway Station biodiversity grant from Keep Scotland Beautiful to enhance the biodiversity in and around Gorebridge railway station, Midlothian. The event will take place in a St Margaret’s Church Hall on Lady brae – adjacent to the station. This is a celebration for the project which has been delivered by volunteers with the support of Gorebridge Community Development Team.
The plan is to have many biodiversity activities: building bird and bat boxes, making seed bombs, creating hedgehog homes, building feeders, planting boxes to encourage wildlife and pollinators, as well as listening to stories and meeting/hearing from many conservation trusts. Scot Rail have given permission to throw the seed bombs onto land surrounding the station and embankments. We will also provide light snacks and refreshments.
We hope that the activities planned will educate, inform and inspire all ages.
