Jane, Laura and I spent a delightful and informative day visiting the Atlantic Islands Centre on the isle of Luing for our research for Gorebridge Beacon. We have visited several other community centres but this had to have the most incredible setting overlooking Mull and Jura.
We took the ferry from Seil to Luing and drove the short distance to Cullipool on the West coast.
Our host was Martin Whitmore, the chairman of The Isle of Luing Community Trust Atlantic Islands Centre who gave us an insight into the running of their centre which has been a great success and far exceeded the expected visitor numbers. It is located in a stunning new building and was recently awarded the Argyll & Bute Social Enterprise of the Year Award 2016.
The menu was simple, local and delicious. Between us we had langoustines, scallops and venison burgers.
All in a good days work!
