Maybe you want to meet new people, learn new skills, or perhaps you have amazing skills and talents that you would love to share? If so, we’d love for you to join us at the Gorebridge Beacon on Tuesday 20th May from 7pm to 8:30pm for our Volunteer Open Evening.

Whether you have a few hours a week to spare or are just curious about getting involved, come along for an informal evening where you can meet our team, hear from current volunteers, and see how you could play a part in something meaningful.

From helping out at community events to supporting our café, assisting with projects, or lending a hand with admin, there’s something for everyone. Volunteering is a fantastic way to gain experience, build confidence, and feel more connected to your local area. We also have a few new projects coming up that might be right up your street. Maybe the development trust and the Beacon is not for you, but there are so many groups and organisations in Gorebridge we may be able to guide you to one of them.

No commitment is needed—just come by, have a chat, and enjoy a welcoming evening with others who care about making a positive impact in Gorebridge. Can’t make the date but want to know more? Fill in the form below and we will give you a call.

Calling all Well Being related businesses.  We are planning on holding a weekend of Wellness and looking for businesses to successfully support our event. We need Midlothian based companies to promote stalls, carry out demonstrations/tasters and give talks over a 2 day weekend in February 15th and 16th, and then again a weekend in September.

Our mission is to promote health and well being across Midlothian, so that our Community thrives whilst our local holistic/well being related business are showcased.

This is a community event, a veterinary nurse will carry out a basic health check, which includes checking eyes, ears, teeth and weight, to make sure your dog is happy, fit and healthy. Alongside the health check, the team will provide advice on diet, training and neutering. Each owner will be provided with a responsible dog ownership pack, including handy tips and useful resources for you to continue to use at home.

The Community Events team offer free on-the-spot microchipping for dogs that aren’t yet chipped (microchipping is a legal requirement as of April 2016). They can also advise you about changing your microchip details should it be needed.

We will be continuing the work of the past two years of carbon reduction (Greening Gorebridge) in Gorebridge and setting up two new elements of the project including a Remakery/Recycle/Reuse project and a Community Fridge. The whole project team will work together for 2 years.

The new team will take the lead in the projects, work with volunteers and provide learning, training and personal development opportunities to all members of our community.

As such, we are seeking two individuals to come and join us at GCDT, one for the role of Food Sharing Coordinator and the second as Circular Economy Coordinator.
