“A bright future, from an industrious past"
Gorebridge Community Development Trust is a charitable, non-profit body which delivers projects with Gorebridge and the surrounding area. It is an independent, volunteer and community-led organisation which is part of a large network of Development Trusts in Scotland.
In Gorebridge, we aspire to engage with and deliver projects that leave a social, environmental, enterprising and economic impact. We do not replicate statutory services, but seek to add value or enhance what already exists.
We undertake short and long-term projects: from the 5 year partnership with Historic Environment Scotland in the CARS Project, to building the new community hub (The Beacon), to working in partnership with other groups and agencies for service delivery in Gorebridge.
At any given time we will be working on a range of projects which will be at various stages of development or deliver - from taking a small idea right through to a funded project. You can read all about our projects here.
We are keen to be recognised as a group that can support and help other groups, organisations, charities, social enterprises, small businesses and individuals to realise their own ideas.
We want to deliver projects that create a legacy, those that leave a long-term impact to all residents of Gorebridge. We are keen to have conversations and build relationships with anyone who shares or common purpose to make Gorebridge a vibrant and inclusive place to live.
The principle mission of the Trust is to support the economic and social regeneration of the former coal-mining town of Gorebridge and surrounding areas in Midlothian.
Our Mission Statement
Our aims will be achieved by:
