What: Fancy a laugh? Do you think you’re funny? Would you like to try stand-up comedy? Everyone has a story to tell and everyone has the ability to make people laugh. Stand-up comedy workshops are also a great way of improving confidence, self-esteem, communication skills and general well-being. The 6 week course will cover:  writing your own material, comedy structure, stage persona, comic timing, microphone technique and performance skills.

The workshops will be led by comedian and Penicuikian Viv Gee whose past students include Richard Gadd, Mark Nelson, Jay Lafferty, Susie McCabe, Des McLean and Des Clarke. Viv has performed stand-up from L.A to Bangkok and has numerous TV and radio credits including The Comedy Underground, The Stand-Up Show and The Good, the Bad and the Unexpected for BBC. In 2025 she was a nominee for the Sir Billy Connolly Spirit of Glasgow Awards and was also awarded the Lord Provost’s 850 award for her contribution to Glasgow’s comedy scene.

Viv was the recipient of the Award for Outstanding Contribution to Comedy at the inaugural Scottish Comedy Awards in 2014.
