Our volunteers make what we do possible
Whether frothing up a latte or sitting down and having a blether with someone in the Gorebridge Beacon community café, getting your hands dirty in the community garden while showing children how to plant potatoes, perhaps helping at an event, or using your wizardry digital skills to rustle up a poster, help us organise an event, or using your skills and talents to become a Trustee, our volunteers are valued and help us support the Gorebridge community.
To become a volunteer, all you need is a real desire to want to make a difference, lots of enthusiasm, a love of community and a desire to help. It's up to you how much time you choose to give, and we will support you. You can choose how much time (some of our volunteers pop in daily, others can't commit to that and love to help out at events) you give and we'll give you all the training and support you need.
We welcome all. Our volunteers include career changers and job-seekers, retired workers, asylum seekers, full-time workers, students and schoolchildren.
Whoever you are and however you choose to volunteer, you’ll be part of a supportive community coming together make Gorebridge a better place to live, work and visit.
You’ll also:
- learn and/or share useful skills
- gain valuable work experience if you would lie to
- meet new people, lots and lots of new people
- support your community, and create a sense of belonging
- share your knowledge and help others grow
- make a real difference
